Counseling and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Dana C. Harding, Ph.D.

My Style

As a cognitive-behavioral Licensed Psychologist, I assist in stopping and replacing negative thinking to reduce stress/anxiety and extreme mood fluctuations and to help change and control unwanted behaviors.
People enjoy my genuine approach and ability to truly empathize with them while gently challenging them to make changes. I have a minor in Spanish and was trained in a systems therapy program, so I am well-trained to work with individuals, couples, and families. Additionally, I am a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, so assessment is also a strong-suit of mine. My dream is to help as many people as possible to joyfully realize their potential.

About Me

I grew up in Dayton, Texas and graduated Valedictorian from Dayton High School in 1992. I went to Texas A & M University in College Station to earn a Bachelor of Art Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Spanish, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1995. From there, I went to Texas Woman's University and obtained a Master of Art Degree in Counseling Psychology with a Minor in Special Populations in 2001. I continued my education while gaining counseling experience with families and children who had experienced sexual abuse/assault and family violence, adolescents with myriad difficulties who had been referred to or voluntarily went to the Texas Job Corps, and college students at Texas Woman's University. I completed my internship at Lewisville ISD, and I graduated from TWU with my PhD in Counseling Psychology in 2003. I married Lars Harding in 1994 and currently have three children. They all light up my life!

My Style

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I assist people who, despite struggling, are seeking insight into their behavior and want to learn how to modify it to serve their goals in life. While working with clients, positive reinforcement is a strategy used often to aid them in recognizing affirmative qualities. Through re-examination, I assist them in restructuring their thinking and learning to accept themselves. I help my clients to understand the universal nature of thoughts and feelings among all people.

About Me

I began my journey in higher education at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, graduating in 2002. I progressed to my post-graduate education a few years later once again at Sam Houston State University, earning a Master of Arts degree in School Psychology, graduating in 2007. I completed an internship at Conroe ISD and took a position there as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology continuing to work there for 11 years. Then I wanted to get closer to home so I moved to New Caney ISD and spent 5 years there until retiring in 2022. Meanwhile, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2008 and worked part time in that capacity over the years. I have been counseling at Harding & Associates since 2017.
